About Elevator Service Company

Connecticut’s largest independent elevator contractor with 75+ years of experience and a commitment to every project from first evaluation to long-term care.

A Legacy Built on Expertise

Elevator Service Company was founded in 1948 as a full-service elevator contractor in Connecticut. Over the decades that followed, the company grew through periods of change and evolution, including time as a division of Eastern Elevator Company and a brief acquisition by Dover Elevator Corporation. In 2000, ESCO was reactivated with a simple vision: the aging population would create an increased demand for vertical transportation in people’s homes, and the right company could help homeowners not just age in place, but thrive in place.

What started as two people and a truck grew steadily over the next two decades into the largest independent elevator contractor in the state of Connecticut. Along the way, ESCO was recognized by the HBRA of Connecticut as a Business of the Year recipient, a distinction awarded to companies that support the building industry with quality products and outstanding service.

In November 2023, ESCO was acquired by Cibes Lift Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of low-speed passenger and goods lifts with over 70,000 installations worldwide. The partnership gives ESCO access to the best product portfolio in the industry while preserving the local identity, independence, and hands-on service that Connecticut homeowners and builders have relied on for more than 75 years. We represent the leading manufacturers in the elevator industry today, which means you get the right product for your project rather than a single brand’s catalog.

The Most Qualified Team in the Region

The strength of any elevator company is its people, and at ESCO, our team is the reason homeowners, builders, and architects keep coming back. Our mechanics average at least 15 years of hands-on field experience, and we have fourth-generation tradespeople on staff who represent a depth of institutional knowledge that you simply won’t find elsewhere. They could work for any company in the industry. They choose to be here, and that says something about who we are.

Every ESCO mechanic is a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC), trained through the National Elevator Industry Educational Program (NEIEP). This is one of the most rigorous training programs in the trades, combining classroom education with thousands of hours of supervised field experience before a mechanic earns their license. It’s the same standard of preparation that state inspectors recognize and rely on when evaluating the safety of your equipment.

Our team also holds ASME/QEI certification and OSHA-10 compliance, which means every technician who enters your home or building meets the highest safety and performance benchmarks in the industry. When you work with ESCO, you’re not getting a subcontractor who showed up last week. You’re getting a committed team of experts with the training, credentials, and experience to do the job right.

Licensed & Certified

ESCO holds active elevator contractor licenses in every state we serve and maintains the professional certifications, memberships, and industry affiliations that reflect our commitment to doing things right.
